Profile of the Dean

Dr. Muhammad Kashif

Professor Dr. Muhammad Kashif is a seasoned academician, researcher, and administrator with a distinguished career in Economics and Finance. Holding a PhD from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, Scotland UK, Dr. Kashif has demonstrated a strong academic background and expertise in the field of Finance and Economics.

His qualifications include a Master’s in Financial Economics with a specialization in Finance from Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, Scotland UK and an MBA with a focus on Finance. Dr. Kashif also holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Baluchistan, Pakistan.

With extensive research and teaching experience, Dr. Kashif’s academic journey has revolved around Asset Pricing, Portfolio Choice, and Investment Analysis. His commitment to academic excellence is evident in successfully supervising numerous PhD and MPhil/MS students, guiding them in their research endeavors and contributing to their academic growth.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Kashif has held key administrative roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences and Head of Department at SZABIST University, Pakistan. In these leadership positions, he has exhibited exceptional organizational and management skills, overseeing academic programs for national and international accreditation, building faculty portfolios as per international standards, and managing publications.

Dr. Kashif’s commitment to excellence extends to the global stage, as reflected in his role as an Editor and Reviewer for esteemed publications such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Managerial Finance, and International Journal of Emerging Markets, among others. His dedication to academic discourse is further demonstrated through active participation in conference presentations and chairing sessions.

As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Kashif has published over 40 research articles in nationally and internationally recognized, Web of Science-indexed impact factor journals. Notably, his paper on “Higher co-moments and asset pricing on the London Stock Exchange” published in the Journal of Banking and Finance has received widespread recognition.

Ms. Abeera Jamil serves as the CBM Dean’s Assistant at the CBM, IoBM, where she contributes to the advancement of operational efficiency and support the Associate Deans as well. She holds a Gold Medal in her Bachelor’s degree and has completed her MBA from IoBM, reflecting her consistent academic distinction and commitment to professional excellence.

Associate Dean Undergraduate

Dr. Shagufta Ghauri

Dr. Shagufta Ghauri holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from IoBM, where she has been a dedicated faculty member for over 15 years. She specializes in Management and HRM and has contributed significantly to curriculum development and training manual design. Dr. Ghauri plays an active role in institutional accreditation and quality assurance, serving as a core team member for AACSB and NBEAC accreditation at IoBM. Her research portfolio includes publications in HEC-recognized, Scopus, and Web of Science journals, and she has presented her work at prestigious platforms, including Harvard University and international forums in Spain. She is an honorary member of the Pakistan Education Foundation and a founding member of The Froebel’s School. At IoBM, she serves as Patron and Faculty Advisor of the Strategic Human Resource Society and has led the Zenith Leadership & Development Conference for eleven consecutive years, fostering leadership and experiential learning.

Associate Dean Graduate and Post Graduate Programs

Dr. Sarah Wali Qazi

Dr. Sarah Wali Qazi serves as the Acting Associate Dean for Graduate and Postgraduate Programs at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), where she also leads the Graduate Business Research Program and the CBM Center for Research and Training (CCRT). With over a decade of academic, research, and administrative experience, she has been instrumental in advancing graduate research excellence and institutional academic standards. She holds a Ph.D. in Management Sciences from SZABIST University, and her research has been published in several peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed, impact factor, and HEC-recognized journals. She is the honorary editor of the ASA Microfinance Newsflash, contributing to sectoral insights and development discourse. Dr. Qazi is an active core committee member of NBEAC, AMBA, and AACSB accreditation, overseeing Assurance of Learning (AoL) activities at IoBM. She has organized national and international conferences, research workshops, and academic development initiatives, and has served as a session chair at conferences as well as an external academic reviewer for Boards of Studies (BoS) and Boards of Faculty (BoF) at various universities across Pakistan. In addition to her academic portfolio, Dr. Qazi works as a consultant in the microfinance and development sectors, contributing to strategic planning, women-centric empowerment models, and institutional training frameworks. She continues to mentor researchers and promote research-led learning, reinforcing IoBM’s mission of delivering globally aligned and locally relevant education.

Associate Dean – Industry Relations (CBM) & Director CIBF

Prof. Dr. Imam Uddin

Prof. Dr. Imam Uddin is a distinguished academician, researcher, and academic leader with extensive experience in Islamic finance, banking, economics, and accounting. He is currently serving as Professor and Associate Dean – Industry Relations (CBM) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. Previously, he served as Head of the Department of Finance & Accounting, where he played a key role in academic leadership and departmental development.

Dr. Imam Uddin holds a PhD with a strong specialization in Islamic Banking and Finance. His academic journey is complemented by rich teaching, research, and scholarly contributions across leading higher education institutions in Pakistan. Over the years, he has developed deep expertise in Islamic financial institutions, Islamic capital markets, risk management, financial regulation, and ethical finance.

With a strong commitment to research and academic supervision, Dr. Imam Uddin has supervised numerous PhD, MPhil/MS, and undergraduate research projects, contributing significantly to capacity building and academic development in the field of finance and Islamic economics. His research interests focus on Islamic finance, banking stability, financial inclusion, and the impact of global economic events on financial systems.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Imam Uddin is the Founding Director of the Centre for Islamic Business & Finance (CIBF) at IoBM, where he has been instrumental in promoting industry–academia linkages, executive education, policy-oriented research, and the organization of national and international conferences in Islamic banking and finance.

Dr. Imam Uddin is a highly accomplished researcher, with over 60 research publications in well-recognized national and international journals indexed by HEC and SCOPUS. He has also authored and edited several books and book chapters with leading international publishers, including Routledge (UK), Emerald Publishing, and IGI Global (USA), focusing on Islamic finance, capital markets, and research ethics.

Actively engaged with industry, academia, and policy circles, Dr. Imam Uddin regularly collaborates with regulators and financial institutions. He serves as a reviewer for reputable academic journals and frequently participates in national and international conferences as a speaker, session chair, and academic moderator.
