The Capstone Project is a culminating academic requirement that integrates students’ classroom learning with real-world business challenges. It enhances critical thinking, research, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. At CBM, Capstone Projects aim to:
Our retention rate stands at an impressive 80%, meaning that the majority of partner organizations consistently return each semester to offer new projects. This high level of repeat engagement reflects the effectiveness of our Capstone program and the tangible value it delivers to both students and industry partners. The hands-on project experience has significantly strengthened student résumés, helping many secure interviews and positions across reputable companies. These include organizations such as Habitt, Bacha Party, Legal Guards, NBP, Hobnob, OPHTH Pharma, UDL, Abbott, Shangrila Foods, Himmel, and IBL. Their success highlights not only the students’ hard work and dedication but also the strong industry relevance and practical impact of the Capstone projects.
Moreover, our impact extends beyond student success. The credibility of our work is reflected in the feedback received directly from partner companies during and after the final project presentations. Several clients explicitly noted that they plan to incorporate the recommended actions into their strategic planning discussions with senior management. In addition, multiple organizations shared that the recommendations were strong, practical, and immediately applicable. Based on this feedback, we can confidently state that a significant proportion—well over half—of our project recommendations have either been adopted or are in the process of being considered for implementation. This reinforces the real-world value and professional relevance of the insights delivered by our student teams.
Our collaborations extend across a diverse spectrum of businesses. While we actively support medium and large-sized companies, we also place strong emphasis on empowering startup ventures by providing research-backed strategies and tailored solutions. Additionally, we have proudly onboarded several renowned global and nationwide organizations such as IFFCO, Coffee Wagera, Bayer, Shield, Alkaram, EBM, and TCS. These partnerships highlight the growing trust in our program and reinforce our commitment to fostering innovation, supporting businesses of all scales, and contributing to the growth and development of society as a whole.

IoBM hosted a follow-up faculty development event on business case teaching and case writing, designed to strengthen experiential learning and promote locally relevant business cases. During this event, IoBM faculty members conducted live classroom teaching sessions using business case studies, which were observed by external trainers from IBA Sukkur, renowned for their expertise in business case teaching and writing. The visiting trainers provided structured, developmental feedback to enhance pedagogical effectiveness and case delivery.
The primary objective of this initiative was to offer hands-on learning and mentoring opportunities to IoBM faculty through direct engagement with experienced case instructors. The broader goal was to develop, refine, and publish high-quality local business case studies in reputed academic journals. These cases were intended to serve as valuable teaching resources not only for IoBM faculty but also for educators across other universities, thereby fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and contextualized learning.
By building a repository of locally grounded business case studies, IoBM aimed to enrich student learning experiences and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of business education in Pakistan. One of the key objectives of the Capstone and Case Study Centre is to strengthen case teaching and case writing capabilities among CBM faculty, and to develop locally relevant business cases that can be effectively used in classroom instruction. In pursuit of this goal, the Capstone and Case Study Centre, in collaboration with the CBM Center for Research and Training, organized a two-day intensive workshop for the faculty of the College of Business Management. A total of 24 faculty members from various CBM departments participated in the workshop.
Dr. Nabeel Nisar, Assistant Professor of Marketing at IBA Sukkur, and Dr. Ali Raza, Assistant Professor of HRM at IBA Sukkur, facilitated the workshop. Both trainers have authored multiple business case studies and bring extensive experience in conducting case-method teaching sessions at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The two-day workshop was structured to build both case-teaching and case-writing competencies among faculty. Day 1 focused on introducing the case-teaching method, featuring an overview session, a live case discussion demonstrating classroom facilitation techniques, and a hands-on activity where participants practiced leading a case session with real-time feedback. Day 2 centered on case writing and advanced facilitation, covering types of case studies, case selection criteria, and practical insights shared by the facilitators. Faculty members then worked in groups to draft complete case studies within a set timeframe. Four groups presented their work, with the team comprising Saima Munawwar, Busha Javed, Mawara Siddiqui, Kinza Zehra, Farhan Iqbal, and Waqas Khurram declared the winner for producing the most well-structured and pedagogically effective case.
Learning Outcomes
Enhanced Understanding of Case Methodology: Participants developed a clear understanding of how to structure and facilitate case discussions, manage classroom dynamics, and align discussions with defined learning objectives.
Strengthened Case Writing Competencies: Faculty members were equipped with practical tools and frameworks to design and develop original case studies relevant to their respective disciplines.
Applied Learning Through Practice: By drafting and presenting their own cases, participants gained hands-on experience that reinforced key concepts and improved their confidence in applying case-method pedagogy.
The Capstone Department conducted a faculty orientation session prior to the start of the semester to ensure that all faculty members were fully informed and re-oriented with the updated capstone guidelines, processes, and documentation requirements. The orientation aimed to create alignment and consistency in capstone supervision and evaluation practices across departments. In addition to briefing faculty on new policies, the session provided a structured platform for faculty members to share challenges encountered during capstone project supervision in previous semesters. These challenges were discussed in detail, and practical solutions and best practices were jointly explored to improve project execution, student guidance, and overall capstone quality throughout the semester.
